Well at least I'm benifitting from my own blog!

Through the experience of gathering information from musical groups in the city, I've learned about a lot of concerts I wouldn't otherwise have known about.  In particular, the concerts offered up by the University of Ottawa.

Today at the U of O, I took in an outstanding concert by David Jalbert who played The Goldberg Variations with amazing clarity and command.  We are incredibly lucky in this city to have access to such marevelous musicianship.

Update on this blog

Hey I know this is pretty crude, website-wise!  I'm just getting started and hoping to make this much more sophisticated as time goes on.  I'm just trying to fill an information-gap in Ottawa's classical music scene.  So bear with me!

Classical music concerts in Ottawa

I've been often frustrated in not being able to plan ahead for the concerts I want to see in Ottawa.  The Citizen does give a good preview in its Thursday edition; but then it's sometimes too late to  plan my weekend.  Sure the main groups like Thirteen Strings, OCMS, and Music and Beyond have lots of information.  But smaller groups like the Bach Choir, the St. John's Strings, and student concerts are really hard to plan for.

This blog is an attempt to rectify that situation.  I am hopeful of gathering information about classical concerts in one place so that all those fans of good music can plan ahead.

If you are involved with any classical music group in Ottawa or know about an upcoming concert, please email me at schobt@gmail.com or simply post on this site.

This is only the beginning and I realize the attempt is perhaps a bit rough.  I hope that the site will become more sophisticated as time goes on.
